This matches the output of most preamplifiers and indicates that the SM S1 should work with the great majority of pre-amps, regardless of brand. The specs above also tell us that the THD total harmonic distortion in the audio range of , Hz is only 0. Taken as a whole, this amplifier does what I suggested a power amplifier should, which is make the input signal big enough to drive the loudspeakers without audibly changing it. Power amps typically have few front panel controls. Some have output meters on the front panel, occasionally with an associated range knob. That is usually about the extent of power amplifier controls. There are also binding posts, jacks or screw terminals to which you attach speaker wires. There should be an AC cord, which you plug into an AC outlet to supply power to the amplifier. Power amps are simple to hook-up.

As long as you are keeping your signal clean no red on your line meters and no red on your master meter, no clip lights blinking on your speakers you will be fine with adjusting as you need Ulrich von Hurtem 4:

Choosing a monoblock amplifier for your car can be a really daunting task. With so many options available, each with its own long list of technical specifications, knowing which amp will give you great sound can be difficult.

Speaker Connections for proper impedance match A note about amplifiers: You should always use the recommended load for your amplifier. However, if you must use a load other than the recommended load, here is a short guide. Most solid-state amplifiers would rather look at an open circuit no speaker at all than a load. Therefore, you can usually use a load that is higher than the recommended load. Do not use a lower impedance load, as this could cause serious damage to your SS amp.

On the other hand, most tube amplifiers need a load to avoid transformer or tube socket damage. If a mismatch can not be avoided on a tube amp, it is better to go towards a lower impedance rather than too high of a speaker impedance.

Wiring (5 speakers

One thing I learned pretty early in life is that speakers are not meant to be wired together in a haphazard manner. In fact, whenever you plan to connect more than two speakers to a two-channel amplifier — or more than four speakers to a four-channel amp — there are a few things to consider, not the least of which is the amps ability to handle low-impedance loads. Ignoring the basics is like playing Russian roulette with your amplifier: If youre lucky, itll drive the speakers without incident; if youre not, the amp will fry.

Jun 17,  · I think you can use those two channels together for the sub @Jim Robeson, I don’t know the technical terms, but the power from the two channels can power a mono amp as one one of the more knowledgable guys can direct the how’s and what’s.

Just remember that the signal comes out of the pre-amp and into the power amp.

A good power amplifier should be well built, inside and out, so that it will last for decades of service. It should also be shielded, so that it does not pick-up stray electrical signals from nearby electrical appliances and amplify their hum or noise. There are large transformers inside. As a result, quality power amps are rather heavy.

How many RMS watts are they on each channel. Normally 4-channel amps only put out between each channel. So you need to find the RMS wattage of each terminal and the Ohms.

If your, 4 channel has a signal summed output, then you can just run the output from the 4 channel to a monoblock. If it doesn’t then you can use y adaptors to steal the rear signal. This method leaves you the ability to fade front to back, but you lose the ability to control the sub level alone from the headunit.

Many sub manufacturers especially the cylindrical models such as SVS’s most popular line recommend corner placement. Imaging should be not be affected unless your mains are extremely bass-light so the sub’s crossover has to be set very high. True low-bass somewhere around hz and below becomes very difficult to accurately locate the source of it. This means if your sub is only handling the lower frequencies, placement will just affect it’s output level and possible room resonances, not imaging.

Of course, two subs one in each front corner is the optimal setup; However not all of us can afford these luxuries, and not all of us have rooms large enough to not be overwhelmed by the output of two subs -dd3mon Amp:

The most basic way to wire marine speakers to an amplifier is to connect one speaker to each of the available channels. But there are other options to consider. Most external amplifiers can power more than one speaker per channel. For example, a 4 channel amplifier may be able to power up to 8 speakers. In fact, if you wire it correctly, you will be able to pull up to twice as much power out of the amp.

First, you need to make sure your amplifier can be safely set up this way. Check the specs to see if it is 2 ohm stable. Or check to see if it has power ratings for running at 2 ohms. If that is the case, then you are in good shape. If not, stick with using one speaker per channel. When connecting two speakers per channel, you want to wire the speakers in parallel.

Parallel means that the positive and negative wires for each speaker connect directly to the positive and negative leads on the amplifier.
